I’m quite sure that this was another spontaneous tour because it was very difficult to find any info regarding the place on top of the montain in 2018. That means – in 2011 there can’t have been anything yet to search for.
Like in most cases – I saw something (the two signs) and followed the road as far as possible to see what’s waiting to be discovered …
Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, daß es sich um eine weitere, spontane Tour gehandelt hat denn auch 2018 war es sehr schwer, überhaupt Informationen über diesen Ort auf der Spitze des „Berges“ zu finden. Das bedeutet, daß 2011 wahrscheinlich überhaupt keine Informationen verfügbar waren.
Wie so oft – ich habe etwas bestimmtes gesehen (zwei Hinweisschilder) und bin der Straße so weit wie möglich gefolgt um zu sehen, was am Ende darauf wartete, entdeckt zu werden.
Tour overview … Überblick …The closer together the lines are – the steeper the landscape! As you can see – the contour lines on northern side of the mountain are very close to each other. Je dichter die Höhenlinien zusammenliegen, desto steiler ist das Gelände! Wie man sehen kann – die Höhenlinien an der nördlichen Seite des Berges liegen sehr dicht aneinander.Look at the elevation profile on the right side – it was really very steep. Hier kann man den Steigungsverlauf erkennen – ganz rechts wurde der Weg wirklich sehr steil.Those 2 signs lead me to the mountain … Diese zwei Schilder führten mich zu dem Berg …I didn’t go to that mountain – but it looked similar, yes. In the foreground one of many water basins – necessary to hold water for several months until the beginning of the next rainy season … Ich bin nicht zu diesem Berg gefahren – aber er sah ähnlich aus. Im Vordergrund eines von vielen Wasserbecken – nötig, um Regenwasser über mehrere Monate zu speichern bis die nächste Regenzeit Nachschub bringt …Then the landscape turned „rocky“ … Dann wurde die Landschaft etwas „felsiger“ …… but luckily there was something like a path to ride along. … aber glücklicherweise gab es immer noch einen Pfad um weiterzufahren.Nobody around, very quiet. I did not her any voices, cars, motorcycles – nothing! Ok, maybe a few birds … Niemand hier, sehr still. Ich habe keine Stimmen, Autos, Roller gehört – nichts! Ok, vielleicht einige Vögel …Updating this around 13 years after taking that tour … it’s not easy or even impossible to remember on which side of the mountain I took every single photo. Jetzt, ungefähr dreizehn Jahre nach der Tour … ist es nicht einfach, sich daran zu erinnern, auf welcher Seite des Berges ich jedes einzelne Foto gemacht habe.But this photo must have been taken on the north-western side – because it’s possible to see the Huay Muk water reservoir in the background. Aber dieses Bild habe ich wohl an der Nordwest-Ecke des Berges aufgenommen – weil man im Hintergrund das Huay Muk Reservoir erkennen kann.1 second? Doesn’t last long – we all know. 1 minute? Can already last long – depending on the situation. 1 hour? Nobody likes to wait that long for food in a restaurant or to meet someone. 1 day? As a child a day meant something that nobody could figure. 1 week? Imagine being sick for 1 week – too long. 1 month? 1 year? 10, 100 years? Nothing compared to the age of those rocks here. They are really very old and exist for a really very long time …. And that means: Not several hundred or thousand years! That would be nothing. The shape of the rocks is the result of at least 100 million years of natural erosion! Eine Sekunde? Dauert nicht lange – wissen wir alle. Eine Minute? Kann abhängig von der Situation schon lange dauern. Eine Stunde? Niemand möchte gerne so lange auf sein Essen im Restaurant oder auf das Erscheinen einer Person warten. Ein Tag? Als Kind war das etwas, das man nicht genau definieren konnte. Eine Woche? Man stelle sich vor, eine Woche lang krank zu sein – das ist zu lang. Ein Monat? Ein Jahr? Zehn, hundert Jahre? Das ist nichts im Vergleich zu dem Alter dieser Felsen hier. Sie sind wirklich sehr alt und es gibt sie schon seit sehr langer Zeit … und das bedeutet: Nicht nur einige hundert oder tausend Jahre! Das wäre ja nichts. Die Form der Felsen ist das Ergebnis von mindestens 100 Millionen Jahren natürlicher Erosion!The view was impressive … Der Ausblick war schon beeindruckend …It looked like someone had been here before … Sah so aus als ob hier schon mal jemand gewesen wäre …Where are the dinosaurs …? Wo sind die Dinosaurier …?I vaguely remember that I parked the motorcycle somewhere and kept on walking … Ich erinnere mich vage daran, daß ich den Scooter irgendwo abgestellt habe und zu Fuß weitergegangen bin …… but there wasn’t much of a change. After every corner I expected something like a building, more rocks, a viewpoint … but it took me while to get to … aber die Umgebung änderte sich nicht wirklich. Nach jeder Ecke habe ich etwas wie ein Gebäude, mehr Felsen oder einen Aussichtspunkt erwartet … aber es dauerte schon noch etwas bis ich …… this house. That must have been one of the monk’s accomodation I saw on the sign. …dieses Haus erreichte. Das muss eine der Unterkünfte für Mönche gewesen sein, die auf dem Schild unten ausgewiesen waren.Oh, a bench. Have a seat, please … Oh, eine Bank. Bitte Platz nehmen …Yes, nobody coming. It looked pretty clean … Ja, es kam tatsächlich niemand. Die Bank sah sogar ziemlich sauber aus …… and provided a fantastic view. … und bot einen fantastischen Ausblick.So – I sat down and tried to rest a bit after the tiring climb. So – ich habe mich hingesetzt und versucht, mich etwas von dem anstrengenden Aufstieg zu erholen.A slightly better view on the water reservoir – more than 3 kilometres away. Ein etwas besserer Blick auf das Wasserbecken – mehr als drei Kilometer entfernt.This sign was hanging from a tree branch in front of me – saying that there is a cliff ahead! Try to look at the landscape behing, around the sign – and you will know that it was not a joke. Dieses Schild hing von einem Ast vor mir – darauf stand, daß weiter vorne ein steiles Cliff liegt! Wenn man am Rand des Schildes vorbei schaut, kann man sich vorstellen, daß es da wirklich sehr steil runter ging und die Warnung kein Scherz war.This statue didn’t look typical Thai – but given the fact that Buddhism has its origin in India – it makes kind of sense. Diese Statue sah nicht typisch thailändisch aus – aber wenn man bedenkt, daß der Buddhismus aus Indien stammt, macht das Aussehen schon eher Sinn.Another, old sign – warning of a dangerous path ahead … Noch ein altes Schild – mit der Warnung vor einem gefährlichen Weg …… but I made it without problems to a Buddha statue that I would expect here in Thailand. And the path to get there was in no way dangerous. … aber ich kam ohne Probleme zu einer Buddhastatue, wie sie viel typischer für Thailand war. Und der Weg dorthin war in keinster Weise gefährlich.Historic dimensions. I will try to give you something to compare the age of the tree to the age of the rocks around here: Lets say the tree is 200 years old and the rocks underneath and around are 100 million years old. It’s like you earned 1 Euro in 200 years – but you need 500.000! Historische Dimensionen. Ich möchte versuchen, das Alter des Baumes in ein Verhältnis zu den umliegenden Felsen zu setzen: Sagen wir, der Baum ist 200 Jahre alt und die Felsen etwa 100 Millionen Jahre. Das ist so als ob man in 200 Jahren einen (1) Euro verdient – aber auf 500.000 sparen möchte.Growing nature wins over dead nature … Die nachwachsende Natur besiegt die abgestorbene Natur …„Rock’s eye“ … Das „Auge des Felsens“ …I know, it’s obvious that I composed this panorama from several photos – but it gives you a perfect impression of the place I visited and the beautiful view. Schon klar, man sieht sofort, daß dieses Bild aus mehreren Fotos zusammengesetzt wurde. Aber es vermittelt einen perfekten Eindruck von dem Ort, den ich besucht hatte und dem schönen Ausblick von dort.
