Today I went on an 68 km long tour across the Chaophraya river and then I turned South towards Wat Phra Samut Chedi. I stopped at a small but very nice restaurant and ended up at the Chulachomklao Fort in the delta of the river.
Heute habe ich eine 68 Kilometer lange Tour über den Chaophraya Fluss gemacht und bin dann nach Süden in Richtung des Phra Samut Chedi Tempels gefahren. Ich habe an einem kleinen aber sehr schönen Restaurant gehalten und bin schließlich am Chulachomklao Fort im Flussdelta herausgekommen.

My first impression of the site … Not many people here. I liked he quiet atmosphere and the antique look. Mein erster Eindruckdes Tempels … Nicht viele Leute hier. Mir gefielen die ruhige Stimmung und der alte Look.Another old building in the compound. Ein weiteres Gebäude auf dem Gelände.Ok, the weather and the blue sky did their best in order to make me feel good. So I followed the sign to a restaurant and found this place. It looked clean, not busy at that time and a good menu. Ich verspürte Hunger und wollte mich etwas ausruhen. So folgte ich dem Hinweis zu einem Restaurant und fand diese Terrasse direkt am Fluss. Sie sah sauber aus, es war nicht voll und es gab eine gute Speisekarte.I felt like sitting in Hamburg somewhere in the harbour – the weather and food … Ich fühlte mich wie irgendwo im Hafen in Hamburg – das Wetter und Essen …… were different … waren aber anders.German cars – famous all over the world. Autos aus Deutschland – berühmt überall in der Welt.Taken from a bridge over a branch canal – obviously the boats are a bit smaller here … Aufgenommen von einer Brücke über einen Nebenkanal – offenbar waren die Boote hier etwas kleiner.An old fish trawler … Ein alter Fischkutter …The Thai words read ‚Bpla dtiin‘ – and that means: Fish with feet – which is pretty much correct. Das Wort in Thai liest sich ‚Bpla dtiin‘ – und das bedeutet: Fisch mit Füßen – was ja auch stimmt.Honestlty – I didn’t trust the wooden path … I did not try to explore that way … Ganz ehrlich – dieser Brücke habe ich nicht getraut … und habe nicht versucht, sie zu überqueren …Welcome … Willkommen …Oh, a ship in the garden. Nur eine Wand – was denn auch sonst?Yes, they had a few really big canons there. After King Rama V (King Chulalongkorn, 1868-1910) ascended the throne, he realized that Thailand was at risk from falling prey to other, foreign nations hunting for colonies at that time. He, then commanded to restore existing forts and to build a brand new one at the estuary of the Chaophraya River. The new fort construction began in 1884 and was completed in 1893. King Rama V bestowed his name to the fort as ‚Phra Chulachomklao Fort‘. Chulachomklao is the official title that the Thais call King Rama V. Ja, es gab hier wirklich einige große Geschütze. Nachdem König Rama 5. (King Chulalongkorn, 1868-1910) den Thron bestiegen hatte, wurde ihm klar, daß Thailand Gefahr lief, von einem anderen Land auf der Suche nach Kolonien besetzt zu werden. Da befahl er, die bestehenden Festungen zu verstärken und im Delta des Chaophraya eine neue zu bauen. Die Arbeiten begannen im Jahr 1884 und dauerten bis 1893. König Rama 5. verlieh der Festung den Namen ‚Phra Chulachomklao Fort‘.
